Picking (and Cutting)

The Picking Process matches material required on Sales Orders to material in Stock. The display shows all the matching Batches and allows the Stock Controller to allocate material to the Sale from the preferred Batch.

The quantity in Stock is reduced by the Sales Quantity (or the quantity available, whichever the smaller). Material may be picked from multiple Batches and Offcuts. The cumalative material picked is added to the Delivery Note.

The process is tailored to individual business requirements. Typically, a Picking List is printed for action by the Warehouseman. He writes details of Batches actally picked, lengths, weights, offcuts and re-stocking locations, for passing back to the StockController to be entered into the computer.

The system can accommodate cutting to size, makes allowances for sawing and can book offcuts back into Stock (where they remain Traceable) or to Scrap. Scrap is taken into account when calculating Profitability.
