The Cutting facility allows material on a Sales Order to be cut from Stock material and automatically added to a Dispatch Note without being re-stocked.
The facility is an extension of the Picking process, which displays the Batches of material available matching the required specification. Only Batches (and offcuts) equal to or greater than the required length are shown.
If the Batch selected for use is longer than the lengths required, then the system will suggest cutting as many pieces as neccessary from the Batch to meet the order. The thickness of blade width is taken into account (which is important for multiple short lengths) and the length of Offcuts are evaluated. An option is given to re-stock or scrap offcuts.
If Offcuts are restocked they are assigned a new Batch number and Location, but retain traceability to their source.They are not included in Profit calculations.
If Offcuts are scrapped, then their value is included in the Profit estimate.
The standard cutting dialogue accomodates cutting on an item by item basis. Optimising the cutting of multiple pieces of varing length requires the Cutting Optimisation module.
